Recap: HCG Eliminates 76ers GC 2-0, Advances to Finals

When HEAT Check Gaming sputtered to a 3-4 record to start the season, mental lapses in close games was a key contributor.

Those problems no longer exist.

The Miami club grinded and clawed its way to a two-game sweep of 76ers Gaming, 68-63 and 62-56, in a slugfest on Saturday that tested the courage of HCG as it advanced to the NBA 2K League Finals.

“It’s an indescribable feeling,” said Sharpshooterlos. “Me and the guys are proud of ourselves for how far we came. We started off the season pretty bad. We made some adjustments, corrected our mistakes and now here we are.”

The journey to the Finals was bumpy, particularly against 76ers Gaming. As the first game was a back-and-forth contest with 76ers Gaming holding a one point lead at halftime and a two point lead after three quarters, HCG began to establish dominance in the fourth quarter. As the team fought to the 68-63 win, 76ers Gaming and other officials believed HCG star Hotshot was using a stiff arm move in the paint (the move was banned earlier this season). In reality, Hotshot used a crossover move to get free from defenders. With tensions high between the teams afterward, officials reviewed the footage and upheld the HCG win.

As HCG moved on to game two, the club was galvanized and as Sharpshooterlos and MaJes7ic locked down 76ers Gaming offense on the perimeter and in the paint, Hotshot turned on the offense with 45 points as HCG became the first team ever to qualify for the NBA 2K League Finals.

“Our mind just had to be focused,” said 24K Dropoff. “Hotshot was going to take care of the offense, we told him we were going to take care of the defense and everybody did their job. We executed the game plan perfectly and that’s why we swept them.”

The only team standing in HEAT Check’s way of a championship is Knicks Gaming, who defeated Cavs Legion GC 2-1 in the Saturday afternoon series to advance to the NBA 2K League Finals. But if you ask HCG for their thoughts on next weekend’s contest, the answer is simple.

“We’re only worried about us,” said MaJes7ic. “We’re only concerned about HEAT Check Gaming.”
