Recap: HEAT Check Gaming 67, Wizards District Gaming 80

Four HEAT Check Gaming players scored double figures but it wasn’t enough to advance in the $150,000 NBA 2K mid-season tournament, THE TURN, as the squad fell to Wizards District Gaming 80-67 in the first round Friday night.

With a lineup change that featured Jalen03303 in at shooting guard, HyPeRiSPro shifting to small forward, Sharpshooterlos over to power forward and Hotshot at center, HCG rolled out to a 6-2 lead to start the game.

But the offense went stagnant the rest of the way as Wizards District Gaming power forward Boo Painter lead all scorers with 41 points and small forward Jin contributed 27 in a dominating performance. With the win, WDG advances to Saturday’s second round to take on 76ers Gaming in the single elimination tournament.

HCG was paced by Hotshot’s 26 points, followed by Jalen03303 with 15 and point guard MaJes7ic with 11 points and 12 assists. Sharpshooterlos contributed 10 points in a loss that doesn’t count against the team’s 2-2 regular season record.

“We came in with a different lineup and wanted to try something different,” said HEAT Check Gaming GM/coach Famous Enough. “At the end of the day, an L is an L. It doesn’t go on our record. We were playing for the money but we’ll live with the results.”

Up next for HEAT Check Gaming is a regular season matchup with Blazer5 Gaming at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16. Catch the action on
